My narcissistic boyfriend’s daughter was graduating, I remember being proud of her but also sad that I know she would be leaving for college. I was at her school on the computer feeling something out, next thing I know they had an old R&B singer singing at their graduation. It seemed to be in a restaurant building. The parents could only watch but no go in. I remember telling someone who felt like my dad that these kids don’t know anything about the singer that was singing meaning how much the singer meant to a lot of people growing up in my time, my narcissistic boyfriend’s daughter was a little confused because she was supposed to be in the fast food restaurant building but she was standing next to me instead, I pointed out that her classmates was in there already, she looked and then went in there with them. The dream jumped scenes and it was just my narcissistic boyfriend, my child and I. We were coming out the house. It was raining, and seemed like it was night time. I was holding onto him laughing. But then there was a woman that lived next door to me, she had another female beside her, like it could have been her daughter, she could have been about 18-20. The lady stopped me and said hi I’m Rebecca, she said she be hanging out with my narcissistic boyfriend and she told him to tell me hi through text message. My gut feeling was saying that he cheated on me. I was so hurt. After that. My narcissistic boyfriend, my child and I got into his car. Somehow it was daytime. I was trying to control my hurting which was turning into anger because my child was there. So at first I was it saying anything. But he knew. My narcissistic boyfriend was driving me somewhere and we were going over the train tracks, but the barriers came down, I had to warn him to slow down because he didnt notice that the barriers were down and a train was coming. Shortly after the train left, I remember being back at the house, telling my child to go inside so I can talk to my narcissistic boyfriend. Once my child was in the house, I was about to smack my boyfriend, I was so close that I merely touched his face with my hand but I ended up controlling myself last minute and did not touch him, he got in defense mode because I was about to slap him and put his fist up. He did not touch me though. I asked him “ my neighbor though, out of all the females you could have messed with, my neighbor?” I was hurt, I was about to cry. I remember before I got out the car. I grabbed a small receipt looking paper from the sun visor. Before I got out the car I told him, I am never going back to him, then I got out and I was going into my grandfathers old house that he used to live in. My grandfather passed away in 2019.
Your dream reveals deep-rooted emotions, concerns, and reflections on your current relationship and personal experiences. Let’s break it down into key elements to uncover its significance:
Graduation and Pride: The setting of the graduation ceremony, particularly the mixed feelings of pride and sadness about your boyfriend's daughter leaving for college, symbolizes transition and the beginning of a new chapter. This reflects your own feelings of loss or change surrounding relationships and family dynamics—perhaps you feel a sense of pride in supportive roles but also sadness over inevitable departures.
The Old R&B Singer: The presence of the old R&B singer highlights feelings of nostalgia. This figure may represent your memories and connections to cherished moments in your life, akin to your relationship struggles. The fact that younger generations may not appreciate the singer might be a metaphor for the disconnect you feel with younger people regarding significant life experiences.
Your Boyfriend's Daughter's Confusion: Her confusion about where she should be can mirror your own uncertainty in your relationship. It may also suggest feelings of responsibility towards her, indicating your desire to provide guidance even in the face of difficulties with her parent.
The Rain and Nighttime Scene: The transition to rain and nighttime signifies a sense of foreboding or emotional heaviness. Rain often symbolizes feelings, cleansing, or sorrow, while nighttime may suggest confusion or the unknown aspects of your relationship that you're grappling with.
The Neighbor and the Betrayal: The encounter with the neighbor, Rebecca, confirms your gut feeling about infidelity, revealing deep-seated insecurities about your boyfriend’s loyalty. Her age also suggests a generational divide, representing fears about being replaced or disregarded, highlighting worries about being undervalued.
The Train Tracks: Your warning about the train represents impending danger or a significant life event about to occur. It can denote your awareness of an impending crisis (e.g., possible infidelity) that you feel compelled to navigate carefully to protect your child, showing your conflict between your emotions and your role as a mother.
The Near Physical Confrontation: Your desire to confront your boyfriend demonstrates a powerful mix of anger, hurt, and frustration. The act of stopping yourself shows your struggle for control in volatile situations. Your boyfriend's defensive stance could symbolize the emotional barriers that exist between the two of you, suggesting that he may not fully comprehend or empathize with your experiences.
Returning to Your Grandfather’s House: The ending scene of you entering your grandfather's old home serves as a powerful motif of retreating to a place of comfort and safety, a place of love and memories. This signifies a desire for stability as you navigate emotional turmoil. It may also suggest reevaluating your past and the familial connections that ground you amidst the uncertainty of your current relationship.
Overall, your dream encapsulates complex emotions related to pride, confusion, betrayal, and the longing for stability during tumultuous times. It urges you to reflect on your relationship's health, assess your emotional well-being, and consider who provides you the support you genuinely need.
